# 14507. Stereograph on tan board (3 1/2 x 7 inch) with title across the bottom. The Pan American Exposition was held in Buffalo, New York during 1901. Being 25 miles from NIagara Falls it was the first major display of electricity for public use using Nikola Tesla's recently invented 3 phase system of alternating current power transmission to light the exterior of the fair buildings. When William McKinley was assassinated at the Temple of Music they had to operate under reflected sunlight since there was no interior lighting and the doctors were unsure as to the damage that could be caused by an x-ray machine, on display for the first time, would have on him. Image of the Crystalline Palace in full light at night. Fine clean copy.
